Siemens Automation Summit 2008 held in Hainan
Grand user event to explore new trends in automation and promote industry development among professionals

The Siemens Automation Summit 2008, held by the Automation and Drives Group of Siemens Ltd., China, kicked off today at Boao, Hainan Province. Mr. Long Yongtu, Secretary General of Boao Forum for Asia, Academician Dai Ruwei, President of Chinese Association of Automation, Mr. Li Junfeng, Deputy Director General of Energy Research Institute and Secretary General of China Renewable Energy Industries Association, and Siemens senior management delivered speeches at the General Session. Over five hundred participants, including industry experts, end-users, partners and media reporters attended the Summit. On the summit, participants will jointly explore the development trends in automation and drives, and seek approaches to propel the sustainable development of various branches by adopting world-leading automation and drives applications.

China¡¯s rapid economic development in the past two decades has brought business opportunities to almost all related technologies including automation. The country¡¯s industry sector is expected to grow 15% this year. As a result, urbanization and industrialization, manufacturing and its related industries are facing new challenges, and the Summit is aimed to provide a platform for thorough communication among participants. Particularly, industry professionals to the event include over 200 end-users from about thirty branches such as iron & steel, power, chemical, automotive etc, 120 OEMs, and 150 system integrators and design institutes.

During the three-day event, there are 28 breakout-sessions focusing on branch applications and product innovations, with topics including energy-saving, product lifecycle management, digital plant, etc. In-depth discussion and experience-sharing will be held among various participants during the breakout sessions. Meanwhile, a mini-fair covering nearly 1,000 square meters is also set up at the venue, displaying the offerings by both Siemens and its partners regarding innovation and productivity, environmental protection and energy-saving, safety and security, as well as logistics and tracking. The on-site exhibition arouses great interest among participants and is well-received.
