Siemens Wiring Accessories Shandong Ltd. (SWAS) is invested more than 100 million RMB, the new company will manufacture switch and socket products targeting high- and medium-end world markets, with main focus in China. The establishment of SWAS enables Siemens to respond more quickly to the competitive, fast-growing switch and socket market in China, with shorter delivery time and guarantee of high quality. The move also reaffirms Siemens' long-term commitment to the China market.

SWAS, located in Hi tech Industrial District, Zibo, covering an area of 34,500 sqm, is Siemens' global production center of wiring accessory products and components. Currently the company produces switch and sockets under two sub-brands - DELTA Vega and DELTA Azio. While mainly targeting China market, it also exports to other Asian countries such as India, Thailand, the Philippines and it will serve Eastern Europe and Brazil in the near future. Meanwhile, Siemens' R&D forces is supporting SWAS in related product development.

With the establishment of SWAS, Siemens now boasts a complete industrial value chain covering R&D, production, logistics and sales in the switch and sockets business, so that it can respond more quickly to the rapidly-changing market, and satisfy the needs of local customers with shorter delivery time and Siemens' globally-consistent high quality.

Siemens Ltd., China (SLC) Automation and Drives (A&D) Group and local partner Galon New Systems Ltd. (GNS) signed the joint venture agreement on setting up SWAS in February 2007, which came into effect legally in April. To date the new company has recruited about 400 employees.

China's market for electrical installation technology is estimated at around 20 billion RMB, with an annual growth of 10 per cent. With strong presence already in industrial applications. Siemens eye for larger market share in the rapidly-growing construction market. The founding of SWAS sets a major milestone in the constant progress we have achieved towards that goal.

The founding of SWAS will also fortify the presence of Siemens in Shandong, where Siemens has set up five representative offices in Jinan, Yantai, Qingdao, Ji'ning and Zibo, and a joint venture - Siemens Transformer Co., Ltd., located in Ji'nan.
