Siemens Continues Donation to Post-quake Reconstruction
After a donation of over 2.3 million RMB to Red Cross Society of China, Siemens staff steps further to give out annual outing incentive of over 2.7 million RMB to assist with post-quake reconstruction. With the outing incentive, Siemens Orphan Education Fund will be set up from which an agreement has been achieved with Mianyang city to aid 20 orphans on their four-year college education of up to 1.04 million RMB. The outing donation will also be used to support primary school reconstruction in Sichuan or Gansu Province. A total sum of over 5 million RMB from Siemens has been contributed to post-quake aid since then.
So far, Siemens donation to quake stricken area in cash, equipment and services has exceeded 15 million RMB. As an excellent Corporate Citizen, the unprecedented endeavor this time has fully demonstrated the strong sense of social responsibility of Siemens.
On May 13, the day after the devastating earthquake, Siemens Ltd., China, one of the first foreign companies to give immediate helping hand, donated 2 million RMB to Red Cross Society of China. Later on, medical equipment and water purification equipment of over 4 million RMB were sent to Sichuan by Siemens. Siemens Healthcare China set up a 24-hour Emergency Task Force to ensure the smooth operation of healthcare equipment in the hit areas and installed a tele-diagnostic system to help doctors to treat patients via remote diagnosis. Besides that, Osram donated lighting equipments of 500,000 RMB and joint venture companies, BSH(Bosch Home Appliances Corp.) and Nokia-Siemens Networks also donated 2 million RMB respectively.
