On Nov. 6^th, 2003 Siemens Automation & Drives Group (A&D) has started an unprecedented conversation with the industrial circle from both home and abroad along with its messenger of technologies - "Exider" at the site of the vital bursting Shanghai International Industry Fair (SIF). Besides the large national industry fair for exhibiting the latest technologies and equipment, Siemens' "Exider" is going to demonstrate numerous industrial users from Shanghai and East China, which is China's quickest developing area, its globally leading industrial automation products, solutions and application cases. The visit in Shanghai is a very important part of the 16-city touring demonstration among the global trip of Siemens' "Exider". On Oct. 31st the train arrived at Shanghai Railway Station, and on Nov. 1st, 2nd and 3rd the cars were hoisted at Yang-Pu Station and reached Pu-Dong via Wai-Tan to take part in the 5th Shanghai Industry Fair, which is held during Nov. 6^th - Nov.11th. Siemens A&D already has a very good reputation and earned lots of praises from the last two SIFs. This year, the "Exider" it is intended to transmit the latest concepts in industrial automation to the industrial circle of Shanghai and China in a more interactive and intelligent way. The bi-directional communication and exchange has also created a lot of attention from governmental leaders. At the opening ceremony of the SIF on Nov. 6^th, Mr. Liangyu Chen, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Shanghai emphasized, that the globally advanced concepts concerning industrial technologies, which are exhibited at the fair, represent exactly the level of the latest industrial technologies worldwide. Furthermore he pointed out, that the demonstrations of advanced technologies from abroad will play a great role in rebuilding the traditional industries of China, and in improving the overall quality and international competitiveness of Chinese industry. Through the "Exider", Siemens A&D is transmitting its belief to the visitors, that they will continuously support the development of the industrial construction in China by technologies, which are leading to the future and by industrial automation concepts, which are high prospective.

The blue magic train which stopped at the Shanghai International Exhibition Centre is the lead for the touring demonstration - Siemens "Exider". With strong support of the Ministry of Railway, the 16-city touring demonstration of "Exider" in China started on Oct. 10th from Harbin, via Changchun, Shenyang, Beijing, Tianjin, Jinan, Nanjing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Xi'an, Chengdou, Chongqing, Guiyang, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, i.e. 16 cities altogether. The activity will end at Shenzhen in the early of December.

The Siemens "Exider" has a length up to 300m and consists of 14 cars, which all demonstrate the most advanced application cases and technology in industrial automation worldwide. The contents cover more than 40,000 products, systems and solutions from Siemens A&D Group and demonstrate the application tendency for the future in industrial and basic construction in an all-sided way, including Process Automation, Totally Integrated Automation, Automation in Machining, In-Machine Manufacturing, Energy Management and E-manufacturing System.

There are several visual vibrations, extensive and detailed introductions, dynamic multimedia video demonstrations and no-distance contacts, which can be attended on the train. All exhibits show the high efficiency of automation in solving current problems in industrial systems. With an introduction from the technicians of Siemens Automation, the visitors are able to understand the products, systems, solutions and professional technologies in such fields like steel, machinery, metallurgy, food, beverage, packaging, automobile and petrochemical, etc. more deeply.
