Tianjin is an important harbour city for industry and commerce within China and has a history of more than 600 years. It is one of the origins of Chinese modern industries and the largest coastal city in the north of China. Tianjin has a vast expanse and its wide area radiates more than 5 million km2. Only 50km east of Tianjin you can reach the sea, and 120km west of it you will find the capital of China - Beijing. Nowadays, Tianjin is the economical centre of the area surrounding Bohai Sea of China, and is more and more becoming a modern harbour city.

In the beginning of 1995 Siemens A&D founded Siemens Electric Driving Ltd. (SEDL) in cooperation with Tianjin Electric Driving Design Research Institute and Tianjin Electric & Electronic Equipment Co. SEDL is mainly producing engineering fully-digital controlled AC and DC driving products. From early 1996 until now, it has introduced one after another complete set of fully-digital AC/DC speed regulators, driving products, 6 series of middle-voltage frequency converter and low-voltage frequency converting motors as well as products of several hundred specifications. It has formed up the structure of production for manufacturing complete components and motors. Up to now, several ten thousands of SEDL produced driving products are running in the domestic area of China, including fields like metallurgy, mine, petrochemical, hoisting, elevator, paper making, rubber, sugar refining, wire making, textile and chemical fibre, etc.. And all of them are highly praised by their users.

With the growing development in business, Siemens founded Tianjin Office in Oct. 2000. The services cover products of each family of Siemens A&D including products from SEDL, but particularly high-power driving units and programmable controlling systems. Tianjin Office and SEDL are advancing together with our partners and creating a brilliant future full of vigour together.

Tianjin is the 5th stop for the 16-city touring demonstration in China amongst the global trip of "Exider" from Siemens A&D Group. The train, whose name is "Exider", carries the state-of-the-art industrial design concepts and most advanced technologies and will surely adding fuel to the flames of the economical development of Tianjin and the whole area of North China.
