The exiderdome roadshow of Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) has started exhibition in Beijing, the last stop of its seven-month China tour since last August, covering six cities. The exiderdome is a movable exhibition hall, assembled of 39 standard overseas containers that tours A&D' s focus markets around the globe over three to four years. Exiderdome enables visitors to experience the power of automation with Siemens' world-leading industrial automation products, systems and solutions, as well as trend-setting developments in automation technologies. With this activity, Siemens A&D reaffirms its long-term commitment to the Chinese market and local customers.

A solemn opening ceremony was held in Beijing International Sculpture Park this morning. Mr. Yang Xue Tong, Executive Vice President of China Federation of Machinery Industry, and Mr. Gierse, President of Siemens A&D, jointly unveiled exiderdome. Later they visited the exhibition with great interests. Expressing his heartfelt wishes for this event, Mr. Gierse showed VIP guests the changes that Siemens' automation and drives technologies will bring to China's social and economic development. He emphasized that automation across the entire value chain and environmental protection promote the shift in production: "Integrated systems for design, production and service, real-time data transparency and enhanced energy and raw material efficiency are the key trends which Siemens applies with a view to increasing the productivity of industrial companies and the efficiency of infrastructure projects.

Mr. Yang expressed his appreciation for the innovative style of exiderdome, and stressed the importance of making use of world-leading technologies in promoting high-tech development in Beijing, and even in China. Mr. Gierse delivered his thanks for the government's strong support and the willingness to strengthen cooperation with local companies.

Siemens exiderdome will stay in Beijing for seven days, during which Special Days focusing on different topics will be held, concerning drives products, process automation, low-voltage business, factory automation etc. On each Special Day, industry- or customer-specific technologies, products systems and solutions will be displayed to target experts and customers. There will also be "Student Day" on Mar 10th, open to students introducing the latest technologies and products of Siemens A&D.

Exiderdome has fully integrated Siemens's top notch offerings in industrial automation. Built with 39 containers in line with DIN standards, the movable exhibition hall has two floors, with eight showrooms, one multi-media demo room with a 34-meter wide display, meeting rooms, air-conditioning systems and power generators. Thanks to its flexibility and mobility, the container can be easily transported to destinations by sea, air or road, with total weight of the exhibits and the trucks estimated at 670 tons.

With eye-catching visual effects and detailed introduction, visitors to exiderdome are able to learn more about the products, systems, solutions and technologies of Siemens A&D in various sectors, including steel, machinery, metallurgy, food and beverage, packaging, automotive and petrochemical. The innovative strategies of Totally Integrated Automation and Totally Integrated Power, created by Siemens and unique in automation industry, are fully illustrated in the exhibition.

The presence of Mr. Gierse at the opening ceremony indicates the strategic importance of the Chinese market to Siemens. The global roadshow's China tour at the past five stops received more than 80,000 visitors and nearly 400 media.
