Siemens Electrical Drives Ltd. (SEDL) is a joint venture production base for full-digital controlled AC and DC drives and motors owned by Siemens Ltd., China, and its Chinese partners which are Tianjin BENEFO Machinery Equipment Group Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Design & Research Institute of Electric Drive Co., Ltd..SEDL was set up at the beginning of 1995 and registered in Tianjin Binhai Hi-Tech Industrial Development Area. The factory area is 180,000 square meter.

Based on the state-of-the-art technology of Siemens, SEDL manufactures drives, motors and wind generators of the same functionality, design and quality as the products from the Siemens factories in Europe and America. From the beginning of 1996 till now, SEDL has been producing hundreds of thousands digital AC & DC drives, traction converters, traction motors, industry motors and wind generators for domestic & overseas customers, in the application field of metallurgy, mining, oil & gas, chemicals, port crane, elevator, pulp & paper, textile, railway transportation, wind power, etc. In 2006, SEDL got the export licence and thereby started the export business. Up to now, motor and converters from SEDL have been sold to Asia Pacific, South America, South Africa, etc.

SEDL has introduced the Siemens Production System (SPS) and implemented the Total Quality Management (TQM) according to ISO 9001:2008 for the management of the whole supply chain, including procurement, logistics, production and after-sale service. Moreover, SEDL has a dedicated technical support and service team, specialized in providing customers with fault diagnosis, repair on site and in house, equipment maintenance, commissioning, and spare parts.

SEDL has certified the ISO14001:2004 environment management system and OHSAS18001:2007 occupational health and safety management system, issued by TüV SüD. SEDL continuously promote Zero Harm Culture “the safety and health of all employees is our highest priority, we take care each other”. SEDL focus on resource & energy efficiency, pollutant emission control, clean production and work safety standardization, commit to providing long-term benefits to the societies in which we operate, through corporate citizenship activities.

As an important part of Siemens global strategy, the Research & Development department was set up in SEDL in November 2006. Besides manufacturing, SEDL is a R&D hub for the development of local products and applications, with the same development platform and process as in headquarter, to best fit the customers’ requirements and assuring international quality standards.
