The increased distribution of inexpensive and high-performance radio components makes the application of wireless LANs in the industrial environment more and more attractive. Nonetheless, the radio technology requires care and technical knowledge to obtain secure and at the same time high-performance networks. The particular questions and problems related to industrial WLANs are discussed in this document.

Solution
This document provides you with an overview of the specific requirements of Industrial Wireless LAN.
It is divided into two parts: The first part explains setup and function of IWLANs and introduces the current state of the art technology. The second part provides an overview of how SIEMENS components can be used to the best advantage in such wireless networks, it presents their special advantages and includes information on their optimal use.
