The DCF file contains among other things server/client and redundancy information. You can delete this file to clear any possible inconsistencies in the file. As soon as you open the WinCC Explorer again the DCF is created anew.

An inconsistent DCF file can have various different undesired effects on your project (for example: WinCC editors are no longer displayed or data connection to the server is not possible).
