DIP-Switch-Configuration with the new PC/PPI cable





QUESTION:
What do I need to pay attention to while adjusting a DIP-Switch on a PC/PPI cable (6ES7 901-3CB30-0XA0)?

ANSWER:
Please note for the use of a new PC/PPI cable (6ES7 901-3CB30-0XA0) that the cable needs to be configured according to the different versions of Step 7- Micro/Win in use.

Turn the cable so that you can see the DIP-Switch and so that the status LED's are on the right side of the switches.
In order to do the Switchposition 1 flip the corresponding Switch upward
Using STEP 7-Micro/WIN till V3.2 + SP3 note following:

Flip the Switch 5 to position 0 (downwards) for PPI-Multimaster and Freeport-Mode
Configure the Switches 1-3 according to the transfer speed in use.
Using STEP7-Micro/WIN starting at version 3.2.4.x following adjustements have to be set:

Flip the Switch 5 to position 1 for a PPI-Multimaster connection
Flip the Switch 5 to position 0 for a connection via Freeport-Mode
Tip:
As of STEP 7-Micro/WIN 3.2.4.x and using PPI/Multimaster (Switch 5 at 1), no adjustements of the transfer speed with the DIP-Switches 1-3 are necessary.
The configuration of these DIP-Switches starting as of this version is only necessary using the Freeport-Mode.
